Everything AND the Kitchen Sink

Figuring out what kind of kitchen sink to buy was no easy task but it’s done. Here’s the winning sink:

Now for finding the perfect faucet. I have to admit this has been fun!!!

Kitchen Progress

This past weekend we bought and installed a new window at the end of the kitchen in the breakfast nook space. I cannot wait to finish the drywall now!

We also ordered our range hood which should be coming this week.

Progress is very good!

Update: New Kitchen in Progress

A short list of what we’ve already accomplished in the kitchen:

# Remove paneling in breakfast nook space
# Replace R-7 insulation in outside walls with higher R value insulation
# Hang new drywall
# Learn how to tape and mud
# Pull down the ceiling
# Hang new drywall on the ceiling
# Resurface ceiling with Behr Sand Paint
# Paint ceiling and walls with Kilz primer
# Paint walls with Behr Ultra Aged Parchment
# Get new appliances (stove, dishwasher and refrigerator)
# Add two new electrical outlets to outside wall
# Pick up granite samples and decide on a pattern
# Pull down pantry cabinet to relocate electrical outlet that’s in the pantry (weird location)
# Move upper cabinet left of the sink to align it with the sink.
# Pack up kitchen (wasn’t as bad as I thought)
# Pick out, purchase and install new pendant lighting
# New cabinets install – Note: 6 doors were ordered incorrectly the first time and are coming soon so I’ll post photos when the cabinets are finished.

Still to do:

# Pick out and purchase a sink (have some ideas)

Kitchen Remodel

We are finally going to do it. A full kitchen remodel. Cabinets are ordered. We cannot wait! I’ll post before/after photos when I have some and maybe even some during construction. Last night we pulled down the ceiling in the breakfast nook area and tonight we will be hanging new drywall. Exciting times!!

Cabinet details: Cherry wood, recessed panels cabinets to the ceiling with crown molding. We opted to add four pull out drawers because I love those! We are going to remove the cabinet above the stove and put in a new stainless range hood to match the rest of our new appliances. I dread looking at those since there is such a huge variety but I know it will look great when it’s in. Here is a picture of similar cabinetry:

We cannot wait to enjoy our new kitchen! Just 5-6 short weeks away!!

It’s the Weekend, Time to Get Busy!

Thinking about the weekend and what’s in store. Here’s a short-list:

Lay out frames on the floor to plan new photo walls
Take thumb drive to CVS to have them print photos for new photo walls
Hang photos (sounds easy but I know it won’t be) Needed: laser level, pencil, photo hangers and a lot of patience
Paint spare bedroom wall (removing the light purple I loved when I painted it but have grown tired of since updating the bedding in earth colors)
Prepare spare room for sister-in-law, brother-in-law and nephews who are coming for Thanksgiving (woohoo! really I love having them)
Help John hang shelves in his office (new photos coming soon)
Shorten curtains for John’s office
Clean the house
Laundry
Grocery Shopping
Relax

Garage Update: Drywall!!!!

While I was at work today happily not thinking about the garage THIS is what happened. Absolutely Amazing!
