Backyard Antics

July 10, 2006

So the wedding was two weeks ago and I’m officially married. It doesn’t feel any different. How am I supposed to feel? How does married feel anyway?

The wedding was awesome, everything turned out beautiful! I can’t believe we pulled it off. There was a Bobcat in our backyard until the day before the wedding. The masons finished our walkway the day before that….down the last minute but it’s gorgeous now!

The pool has been great. I love it! I highly suggest the outdoor shower for those who own pools and/or spas. They rock! A nice hot shower after swimming feels great!

We are supposed to be getting a spa this week…an old one from a friend who didn’t want to fix it after the motor went out on it. I’m going to try to enjoy it…I’m not a huge spa fan because it makes me tired and that’s my least favorite state of being. I’d rather be pretty much anything other than tired. Nonetheless, I’m going to get in and give it a go.

We put the little boat in the pond and took a little ride around the pond while my nephew Robert was in town. It was fun! I’m not quite big enough to hold onto the oars while they are in the oar locks so I have to free-style (if you will).

Happy New Years!

January 11, 2006

Happy New Years!

The holidays are over, my finals are over and now it’s time for wedding plans and a new semester. I started last week and my first papers are due this weekend. My first classes of the semester were last night and they both went well. The changed to a new format and the chats run very fast now, you really have to pay attention, unlike before. I used to multi-task during class and there will be less of that now. But since I’m paying for my education, I don’t mind.

The wedding is planned for June 24th, 2006! I need to get cracking on confirming the caterer, the cake, the photographer, minister and DJ. I’ve spoken with a caterer and I’m praying they can do a decent Mexican food spread. This isn’t Texas ya know. I really want it to rock. I will have to try everything first and since I’m such a salsa snob I’m thinking about giving them my recipe to use.

I need to really start thinking about my backyard and how I can transform it into a wedding oasis. I’m thinking lots of red flowers and hanging lanterns. I’m wondering how I can keep John from seeing me in the same house….I’m not sure that will happen. We’ll have to see. I’m such a DIY girl; I have to be there to set things up. Maybe he can do some of it ahead of time and sleep at Charlie’s house the night before. Can I trust him to not stay up so late that he’s tired at the wedding???? That’s a good question…

Finals, Christmas and Wedding plans…Oh My!

December 7, 2005

Ok, so the Open House Brunch went off without a hitch and now it’s time to focus on Christmas, my finals and then….the wedding!!!

This morning, I gazed out at the backyard daydreaming about the wedding taking place there…albeit covered in snow currently I was still able to “see” it. There are so many things that need to take place before that. I should really get started but I’m doing my best to hold off until after finals.

I was such a slacker this semester…I have soooooo much work to do in the next two weeks. I will get it all done and I will set a record for me. That’s what ya get for being a slacker!

Slacker Friday

April 8, 2005

I wanted to slack off at work today because things have been so busy all week but I didn’t have much luck with it. I kept getting slammed with work. It seems like the longer I’m at this company the more they gain faith in my abilities to get more and more done. I need to figure out how to reverse the process. Kidding! We have a new four-legged family member, a six-week old kitty. She’s all white with a patch of gray on her forehead. She’s ridiculously cute!

The wedding plans are stalled while we live our normal lives and John travels all over the Northeast. He just gave me his itinerary for the next few weeks, it looks like I’ll have plenty of time for girl’s nights.

Life Update…

February 12, 2005

What started as eloping at a bed and breakfast in New Hampshire has become a wedding in Boston. Now for a date….Winter or Spring? Maybe I’ll use the dart board later to decide.

My homework is almost done for the weekend. I just need to do a ROI report on implementing a new computer system at a medical center, build a diagram of the system and write an explanation of various alternatives. School stuff….

Going to Rick and Fran’s tonight. Rick called and said he just left the sushi market in Chinatown (Boston). Yum Yum! I am bringing portabella mushrooms that I grew from the kit Cindy and Paul gave me for Christmas. They look incredible.
